"How I can make users to feel fresh FEAR but still keep old-Resident
Evil feelings from -Charming- enemies?"
"How I can make users to feel presence about new monster in the world
of Resident Evil?"
Those things were always in my head during the creation of the enemy of RE-make.
=About changing enemies=
I can say I made a little change in all the enemies. Because of the high
hardware performance and getting rid of the old-Resident Evil's unsatisfactory
points, also I changed because view of the game play.
ZOMBIE
We discussed several times to make Zombie to be terrifying character again, we made the Zombie to be "revived with surprising hyper power, finish them off to avoid revival!!" I think I created the Zombies with a freshness and new fear power.
NEPTUNE
My aim was only create shocking look. I think that is a big impact on the
game player to see much huge shark than old-Resident Evil. I wanted to
make old-Resident Evil player to feel like "What is this place!?"
by changing the structure of the stage. And realistic water expression
is worth seeing.
TYRANT
Mikami Director's requirement were "I want the situation to be when player fight against Tyrant, not players are running around and Tyrant following the player, I want to make Tyrant to express the dignity and greatness by walking slow and strong." And I thought about " How I can make the situation where the player has to go to Tyrant (not running away) and fight." answer was "Tyrant try to kill player's wounded friend, player have to get between Tyrant and friend to save the friend to help."
This concept made two results, that player can't run away from Tyrant and try to save the friend to build emotional feeling on player.
NOTE: About stage
The laboratory where you fight the Tyrant for the first time, I changed
structure to make old-Resident Evil player to feel surprise.
=About Lisa Trevor new character=
To RE-make old Resident Evil, I added one enemy to refresh the well known
story line. First concept was Give users the an unknown FEAR
Give users the FEAR before the monsters appear by typical voice or sound that monster make.
Those Ideas came from Mikami Director, and we studied a lot on the plan. Then, we decided to put the essence of George Trevor -The architect who died after building the mansion- into the new monster. We also made another concept
A female
Wearing a mask made from human's face skin.
Dragging the chain.
And after we decided to put George Trevor story,
Daughter of George Trevor.
Mask made by parents face skin.
Dragging chain with handcuffs and burden.
We started to make concrete idea like above.
Little insanity or sad story in her life, this character made profound story in the RE-make. I was satisfied with the birth of new RE enemy, Lisa Trevor.
=At last=
This time, I was on the side of making Resident Evil, I played old-Resident
Evil as a normal user. I hope people feel the unique Resident Evil feeling
in RE-make like when I played old-Resident Evil. And also to people who
already know the old-Resident Evil can feel like "This is the feeling
of Resident Evil."
Anyway, If I could, I wanted to play RE-make as one of the users.
